Pre-Calculus Honors students continue studying trigonometry from Algebra 2/Trig and add topics such as polar coordinates, vectors and proofs. Successful completion of the course prepares students for Calculus AB, and mastery of the course readies students for Calculus BC.
Sophomore Shreya Mantripragada took Pre-Calculus Honors after taking Algebra 2/Trig freshman year, which she found more difficult than Pre-Calculus Honors. According to Mantripragada, the first semester was algebra-based and the second semester focused on trigonometry and new topics.
For Mantripragada, homework took an average of 10 to 45 minutes a day depending on the difficulty of the lesson. In class, students work on packet problems. Before a test, Mantripragada finds extra practice problems sufficient for preparation.
“I feel like it's just that you have to learn how to apply problems, and [when you’re given] a problem, you have to be able to think of ways to apply your equations,” Mantripragada said.
