Chemistry Honors includes an increased application of math concepts at a more intensive pace compared to Chemistry. To take the course, students should be concurrently enrolled in Geometry or higher.
Sophomore Howard Peng is currently taking Chemistry Honors, and the labs are his favorite part of the class. Peng spends 15 to 20 minutes on average a day doing homework for the class.
“A lot of people don't take Chem because [they think] the teachers are really bad,” Peng said. “First of all, I don't think that's a reason not to take the class, just because the teacher is bad. Second of all, that's not really true.”
While Peng recognizes that students have to invest time, he believes it is less strenuous than higher-level alternatives.
“Chem Honors is much easier than AP Physics or any other Advanced Placement class for sophomores,” Peng said. “If you have an easier time in sophomore year, definitely take chem honors.”
