AP Macroeconomics is a semester-long course for seniors who choose to take the course instead of Economics. A course in economics is a required course for graduation, but this AP level is offered for students who would like to be challenged at a higher level. The course itself offers a more in-depth view of the nature of decision-making made by households and firms within the larger mixed market economic system.
According to Ehara, students need to be proactive about doing practice sets and talking to the teachers in order to do well.
“The way that Mr. Victorine describes it, he says if you take AP Econ, you'll be able to use it and apply it to the real world,” Ehara said. “But then if you take regular [Economics], you learn about the historical aspect, stories of famous economists and stuff, and I didn't really find that interesting. So the way he pitched it seemed like a college [course].”
