This course explores the American canon for students who don’t want to take American Literature/Writing Honors (HAmLit) due to its higher difficulty level or American Studies due to a dislike of collaboration.
According to junior Mira Bhatt, students spend the period doing assignments provided in Google Classroom and occasionally discussing the current text. Bhatt dedicates the most time for the class to reading assignments and in-class work, amounting to half an hour a day on average.
“It’s definitely a lot more relaxed,” Bhatt said. “It’s less stress.”
However, she says there is little to no homework if she is able to finish classwork in class and therefore recommends AmLit students to take other intensive classes during junior year.
